QUEBECOR, AN OFFICIAL PRESENTER
AT THE FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL DE LA POÉSIE
(Trois-Rivières, September 6, 2006 Quebecor is happy to announce that it will act as the official presenter at the Festival International de la Poésie, which will be held in Trois-Rivières from September 29 to October 8. This important 5-year partnership involves a multimedia campaign supported by all its written and electronic media, with the intent of maximizing the Festival's visibility among the general public. Quebecor will also provide the printing component for all of the Festival's advertising and promotional materials.
Thanks to a donation of $10,000, Quebecor has made it possible to increase the Grand Prix Quebecor du Festival International de la Poésie to $15,000. This will be awarded to a Quebec poet during the official opening of the Festival on September 29.
“We are very pleased to count on the support of a partner such as Quebecor,” said Gaston Bellemare, Chairman of the board for the Festival International de la Poésie. “Known around the world with the participation of more than a hundred poets, the Festival International de la Poésie has already been in existence for 22 years. This important partnership will make it possible to enjoy and discover poetry even more and to give back to this literary form the importance it deserves,” he added.
The president and CEO of Quebecor, Mr. Pierre Karl Péladeau, noted the special relationship Quebecor has with the book and literature industry. “Quebecor prints more than a billion books around the world and is one of the largest French-language publishers in Canada; it was therefore natural for Quebecor to support an event aimed at promoting and showcasing poetry to the general public. He adds: “We hope that with our support, the popularity of this 22nd edition of the Festival will benefit all poets in Quebec, but also, why not our literature as a whole.”
Over a period of ten days, the Festival International de la Poésie will offer more than 400 activities spread out over 90 different sitescafés, bars, restaurants and art galleries throughout the City of Trois-Rivières. For more information on the programming, go to: www.fiptr.com.
