(Trois-Rivières, September 5, 2007) La Fondation Largo pour les Arts in collaboration with the Trois-Rivières International Poetry Festival have established a new poetry award called Place aux poètes to commemorate their shared passion for poetry and jazz. Beginning in October, interested participants will be invited to pen a poem using as their source of inspiration the suggested theme for that month (12 themes throughout the year). 

Each month will produce one winner who will go on to become one of 12 finalists for the grand prize. 

The prizes, awarded annually, will be presented at at the Largo Resto-Club in Quebec City during a special dinner honouring the 12 finalists. The grand prize winner will receive $1000; the runner-up, $500. First and second prize winners will also receive a free stay at l’École Nationale de Poésie in Trois-Rivières. 

Monthly winners will have their poem displayed on the poetry clothesline (Corde à poèmes) during the Trois-Rivières International Poetry Festival and then exhibited for thirty days at the Largo Resto-Club on a lyre created by artist Andrée Côté, during which time copies of their piece will be available for purchase— the perfect gift for you or a friend!
