French Poet Roland Nadaus Awarded the

 XVIIe Antonio Viccaro International Poetry Prize

 for Literary Achievement

(Trois-Rivières, September 5, 2007) At the 25th Marché de la Poésie in Paris, poet Roland Nadaus was awarded the 17th Antonio Viccaro International Poetry Prize for a llifetime of literary achievement.  

Roland Nadaus was born in 1945. Poet, novelist, essayist, satirist, and history professor until 1988, he was the mayor of Guyancourt from 1983 to 2002, and President of the Ville nouvelle Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines from 1989 to 1998. General adviser to the department of Yvelines since 1995, he continues to argue « Poetry saved me from politics. » 

He is the author of fifty works (novels, essays, stories, lampoons...) including 30 volumes of poetry published by Jacques Brémond, La Bartavelle, Le Dé bleu, Gros Textes, Caplas, Encres vives, Cadex,  Le Soleil Natal, Verso, and others. 

Recent titles include Dieu en miettes (éditions La Porte, 2002); Guérir par les mots (éditions Cadex, 2004); and Les Noms de la ville (éditions Le Soleil natal, 2006). 

Vivre quand même parce que c’est comme ça (éditions L’Idée bleue, 2004) edited by Jacques Fournier, contains a wide selection of poems published since Maison de Paroles (éditions Mercure de France, 1969). 

Roland Nadaus will be appearing at the Trois-Rivières International Poetry Festival scheduled to take place September 28th to October 7th, 2007. 

The Antonio Vicarro Prize was established in 1991 to honour the work of a living poet. An international prize, it is awarded at the Marché de la Poésie (Place St-Sulpice) in Paris, during a luncheon held at the Aux Trois Canettes restaurant, on the third day, a Saturday, of the Marché which takes place in June.
