Indran Amirthanayagam (Sri Lanka)
Valeriu Stancu was born on August 27, 1950 in Iassy, Roumania and received his education in Arts and Literature at Al. I. Cuza University in Iassy. Since 1983, he has edited "CRONICA", a national cultural magazine for which he is now Editor-in-chief. Stancu runs a publishing company that produces over 70 titles per year. In 2005, he became President of the Writers’ Union of Roumania.
Published in Roumania, France, Belgium, and Germany, Stancu has authored some thirty books, including poetry, short stories, novels, and essays for which he has received numerous awards. To date, he has thirty translated works in his repertoire.
Stancu recently completed a 320-page book dedicated to the Trois-Rivères International Poetry Festival entitled Trei Rîuri ocean de poezie si un (Trois-Rivières and an Ocean of Poetry).
