
Climate
Geographically situated in a «continental humid» climate zone, seasonal temperatures range from a frosty -30 °C to a sweltering + 35 °C. The total annual snowfall exceeds 2.5 metres and dominant winds blow in from the southwest.
Trois Rivières knows four seasons during the course of a year : a mild spring, a generally hot summer, a cool but colourful autumn, and a cold, white winter.
Summer in Quebec resembles summer in the north half of the United States, with mild and warm temperatures between the months of May and October. From the end of September until the beginning of October, trees provide a spectacular display of colour. During the ten-day International Poetry Festival, temperatures can vary anywhere from 0°C to 28°C. Many leaves turn red before falling and succumbing to the winter months.
