Origin of prize:

Created in 1984, this award recognizes the high calibre of Gatien Lapointe’s work and emphasizes his influence on poetry today.

The Prize:

  • The prize, carrying a purse of $ 15,000, will be awarded at the official opening ceremony of the 24th Trois Rivières International Poetry Festival on October 3rd , 2008 at the Maison de la Culture in Trois Rivières.
  • The prize winner will be extended an invitation to participate in the festival, and receive an additional stipend of $2,000 for food and accomodations.


Rules:

The poet must:

    1. be a Canadian citizen
    2. have a minimum of three (3) books of poetry with a recognized publisher
      --submit three (3) copies of a poetic work written in the French language. The work may be:
      1. an unsolicited, unpublished manuscript of at least 48 typewritten pages, doublespaced, and on one side of the page only; OR
      2. a book, submitted by its author or publisher, and published in the 12 months prior to May 31, 200
    3. All entries should be postmarked before 5 PM on May 31, 2008 and mailed to La Fondation Les Forges. Please note that submissions will not be returned. The postmark will be regarded as proof of the date on which the application was mailed.


Jury:

A jury consisting of three (3) members is selected each year by the Board of Directors of La Fondation Les Forges.
