Origin of prize :

The Félix Leclerc Prize was established in October 1997 as a joint effort between the Félix Leclerc Foundation and the Fondation Les Forges on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the famous poet’s death.

The award, honouring the memory, spirit and work of Félix Leclerc, is presented every two years at the official opening ceremony of the Trois Rivières International Poetry Festival.

Prize :

  • $1000 (CAN) presented by the Félix Leclerc Foundation;
  • Includes a complete boxed-set of the works of Félix Leclerc;
  • An invitation to take part in the International Poetry Festival (valued at over $400).

Rules :

The applicant must:

  1. be a Canadian citizen.
  2. be 35 years of age or under on June 1, 2009.
  3. have published his first poetry book in French with a professional publishing house between June 1, 2007 and May 31, 2009. (Four copies of the work must be submitted with the application and will not be returned.)
  4. ensure that the four books are sent by mail on or before June 30, 2009, the postmark being proof of the date on which the books were sent. include a short biography with the application.

Jury :

The jury, composed of three people appointed by organizers of the International Poetry Festival, will select the winner and a shortlist of one or two other nominees, if the need arises. All decisions are final.
